Structural Steel Fabrication

A C H Steel are highly skilled in the fabrication of structural steel for use in commercial and industrial structures, infrastructure, as well as a wide variety of industrial components and equipment. We have over 25 years experience in structural steel fabrication in Queensland across a diverse range of industries and applications, including rail, mining, theme parks, main roads, aviation, waste management and plenty more.

Our Steel Fabrication Process

Our Steel Fabrication Process

  • Project Review

We work with you to confirm the scope of works, project timings, key points of contact and more - everything we need to ensure a successful steel fabrication project.

  • Site & Design Review

We work with you to confirm the scope of works, project timings, key points of contact and more - everything we need to ensure a successful steel fabrication project.

  • Steel Fabrication

We commence the fabrication stage of the project upon client’s approval of drawings and keep the client informed on our progress.

  • Quality / Delivery

When fabrication is complete, we complete test assembly of components to ensure the specifications conform to the engineering drawings. Once all checks are complete, we arrange delivery of the steel to your site address..

  • Installation

Steel delivered on site is erected by our qualified riggers. On site welding may be required, in which case there will be boilermakers present as well.

Our Structural Steel Fabrication Capabilities

Structural Steel Fabrication

Steel Component Fabrication

Size doesn’t matter to us. We manufacture steel components small and large. What is common about the steelwork we fabricate is the clients’ need for a high quality finished product and/or steel that is being used in a demanding application or business critical project.

To ensure the highest steel manufacturing standards, all our fabricators are fully Australian qualified and professional boilermakers with experience in projects of all sizes. All fabrication work is supervised by a Certified Welding Supervisor to AS 2214. And our entire manufacturing operation is supervised by a CPEng certified Engineering Manager to IOS 3834.

Structural Steel Fabrication Techniques

Our fabrication team employs the full range of techniques required for any steel manufacturing project, including:

Crack and weld defect repairs

  • Pre-weld Heat Treatment
  • Post-weld Heat Treatment
  • Cavity excavation
  • Cavity filling
  • Temperature induced stress homogenisation

Non-destructive testing (NDT test)

  • Magnetic particle inspection (MPI)
  • X-ray radiography testing
  • Dye penetrant inspection (DPI)
  • Ultrasonic Thickness Test

Steel processing

  • Steel bending
  • Structural and pipe Bending
  • Steel drilling

Welding to ISO 3834

A C H Steel is an ISO 3834 certified company, providing fusion welding services within a full quality controlled manufacturing process, also known as a “factory production control system”.

AS/NZS ISO 3834 controls the entire lifecycle of the welding process, from design right through to inspection. It considers all aspects that could affect weld quality, making it essential for high quality structural steel fabrication, since it is impossible to undertake complete verification of a welded joint without destroying it.

Factory Fitout

Our steel manufacturing workshop on the Gold Coast services our clients across Queensland. The 2400 square metre site is set up for 24/7 production flexibility, with 10 individual welding bays, gantry crane for maneuverability and easy access for semi-trailers for us to accept structural members up to 25 metres in length.

Quality Inspections

Inspections are conducted throughout the fabrication process to ensure strict quality standards and full traceability of materials used on every project.

All welding fabrication is completed to AS 1554.1 and steel structures to AS 4100. As an ISO 3834 certified company, all our products are designed and made in Australia with certified personnel and manufactured to our stringent ISO 3834 compliant quality system.

FAQs about Steel Fabrication

Here are some common questions we get asked on this topic.

  • Reduced spatter, less cleanup and fewer welding defects
  • Allows welding at a lower current, leading to reduced distortion for the parent material
  • Capable of stainless steel and aluminum welding to a high quality surface finish
  • Capable of welding thinner materials

We can readily accommodate scope changes, due to our traceability and process control. Depending on the stage of the project there may be no extra costs

ISO 3834 provides the factory production control framework that delivers a more efficient fabrication process, with reduced production time, costs, overheads, materials, waste and nonconformance or rework.
