Product: TMR Guardrail Posts
Application: Department of Transport and Main Roads
Sectors: Infrastructure; Government
Location: Queensland
Master Steel supplied guardrail posts to the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR). The project includes the installation of steel beam guardrails for the culvert upgrade in Burpengary East Old Road. The guardrails are in compliance with MRTS14, and all steelwork are fabricated to the requirements of MRTS78.
The guardrails are installed on the edge of the culverts and require rigid fixing. The SHS guardrail post along the edge of the kerb and reinforced concrete box culvert (RCBC) has 8mm welded cap across the top. The post is to be hot dip galvanised after the completion of fabrication. Meanwhile, the W-Beam guardrail has a fixed 230 PFC blockout.
The post is attached on the existing RC slab deck culvert with M24 threaded bars drilled horizontally into the concrete mortar. The posts on the section with headwalls, on the other hand, are affixed with M24 threaded bars via vertical holes traversing the box culvert. Over all, the posts are 1205 mm long each and position at 1670 crs apart.
Guardrails form a safety barrier for vehicles that drift off the roadway. They help lessen the impact of most crashes by slowing vehicles to a complete stop or redirecting motorists back onto the road.
Master Steel is making Queensland roads safer through a number of guardrails it has fabricated and installed across the state as one of TMR’s most trusted suppliers of fabricated steelwork.
