Product: Steel PCU Pad Cap Plates
Application: Warwick Solar Farm
Sectors: Renewable
Location: Warwick, Queensland
Master Steel delivered 160 pieces of steel PCU pad cap plates for the 64-megawatt Warwick Solar Farm Project. The project included 96 pieces of 200x200x20PL cap plates and 64 pieces of 300x300x20PL cap plates with twist locks. The plates underwent MPI or Magnetic Particle Inspection, a non-destructive examination technique used to diagnose surface and subsurface defects on ferromagnetic materials. The plates also required galvanizing, a process in which the steel is dipped in a molten bath of zinc to form the dull grey zinc carbonate coating that protects the steel from elements. Master Steel was able to deliver the project in under two weeks.
The $125 million Warwick Solar Farm Project is developed by Lendlease Group at a 154-hectare site in Queensland’s Southern Downs region. The facility will provide 100% renewable energy for research and education at the University of Queensland (UQ), which purchased the project in November 2018.
